The Research Areas represent the main disciplinary and thematic lines developed at the Institute. Their enumeration and classification serve as a reference to inform both the scientific community and the public about the topics researched within the Implementation Unit (UE), making its knowledge production available and offering training and advisory services. These Areas are not static, as they can be broadened or readjusted according to institutional policies and changes in the research staff.

The current active areas of research are: Family Law; International Law; Political Ethics, Legal Philosophy; Legal Sociology; Legal History, Gender and Social Studies, Constitutional Law, Public Policies and Social Conflicts; Environmental Law; Labour Law; Criminal Law and Criminology.
